Beware of Scholarship SCAMS❌ Here are 4 signs to look for when applying for scholarships: 1.Application Fees: Legitimate scholarships do not charge ANY fees to students or their families. These can include application fees, background check fees, processing fee etc. 2.Asking For Personal Information: Scholarships do not need your credit card number, social security number, or bank account number to verify your identity or hold the scholarship. 3.Guarantees You’ll Win: Nobody can guarantee that you’ll win a scholarship. If anyone promises to get you a scholarship, that's a red flag that you shouldn't work with them. 4.Missing Contact Information: Check whether the organization is really a foundation or tax-exempt charity. If there is no contact information for the scholarship then don’t apply. If you encounter a scholarship scam, report it to the following law enforcement authorities. By reporting a scholarship scam in a timely manner, you may help save other students from becoming victims of scholarship scams. Report the scam to the National Fraud Information Center (NFIC) at 1-800-654-7060 or visit www.fraud.org. #scholarships #scams #scholarshipscams #beware #studentsbeware #scholarshipopportunities #collegetips #scholarships #scholarship

Asking for a scholarship letter should not be stressful. Here are 4️⃣ helpful tips you can do to ensure your receive an impressive scholarship letter of recommendation. 1.Choose the person who knows you BEST - Many students ask past teachers, counselors, work supervisors, or coaches they’ve had that know them and can vouch for their work ethic, or involvement in extracurricular activities or community service. No relatives. 2.Ask Face-to-Face - It’s always a good idea to ask someone for a letter of recommendation in person. So schedule an appointment to discuss the recommendation fully or make a formal request through email or phone. 3.Give Advance Notice - Give the recommender at least 3 weeks advance notice to write the letter and provide them with the deadline of the scholarship. Don’t be afraid to send a reminder one week before its due, if needed. 4.Provide All Necessary Materials - Make it easy for the recommender and provide them with an information sheet which includes all your attributes, extracurricular activities, awards and honors. & Don’t Forget To Say Thank you! #scholarships #lettersofrecommendation #scholarshipletters #scholarshiprecommendationletter #scholarshiprecommendations #student #studentoportunities
