Description
The Berg is located in Muhlenberg Township, in Reading, PA. We are directly affiliated with our high school and youth football programs within the Muhlenberg School District. The creation of our travel 7 on 7 team provides more football opportunities for everyone involved. Our athletes get the opportunity to play competitive football during the off season, while also getting a diverse travel experience.
We are excited to host the ‘Battle @ The Berg’ Flag & 7 on 7 Tournament! Our tournament features the 7U & 9U Flag division. In addition to 11U, 12U, 14U, & HS (18U) 7 on 7 divisions. Teams can consist of a select travel roster or your school district affiliated teams, as long as every athlete meets the age requirements per division. We welcome all competitive and positive competition! Each team will play three (3) pool play division games, followed by single elimination playoffs. Winners will receive a team trophy, photo shoot, and free entrance for next year’s tournament!
Tournament Dates: Saturday, June 27th (Rain date, Sunday, June 28th)

Team Cost: $400 (7 on 7), $375 (Flag)
Registration: All players and coaches will need a valid Zorts card. Registration closes on Monday, June 22nd

7v7 Rules (PIAA Officials)
Team Roster and Uniform Requirements:
Rosters are limited to 14 players.
Teams must have matching uniform tops.
Softshell helmets are optional but highly recommended.
Mouthguards are MANDATORY.
Football Size: (Teams Must Provide Their Own Ball)
11U - TDJ
12U - TDJ or TDY
14U & High School - Wilson High School Ball
Field Dimensions:
Field Length will be 50 yards. 40-yard playing field with a 10-yard end zone.
Each Game Starts with:
A Coin toss will determine which team receives the ball first. Possession begins on the 40-yard line with their choice of hash mark.
Whistle will begin the game.
Game Length and time:
25 minutes, running clock.
Clock ONLY stops on injury and referee timeout.
Referees will keep the official score and time on the field for each game.
On Offense:
The ball always starts on the 40-yard line with the offense's choice of hash.
Team’s can either use a QB TEE or a center(center is ineligible as a receiver or runner).
Offense has three downs to gain a first down. First downs will be at the 25 and 10 yard lines.
Inside the 10-yard line the offense has 3 downs to score a touchdown.
The first player to receive the snap is the QB. QB is never eligible to run
Only 5 players are eligible to catch the ball.
No toss passes or reverses.
The QB has 4 seconds to throw the ball. Referees will stop play if the QB holds the ball past 4 seconds.
Fumbles including snap are dead balls at the spot with the last team in control retaining possession at the spot.
25 second play clock. After 25 seconds delay of game and loss of down.
The offensive team is responsible for retrieving and returning the ball to the official. The clock keeps running as well as the play clock. The first time will result in a warning for the offensive team. Second infraction will result in a delay game.
The ball carrier is down when at least one hand touches below the head or neck area. The defender can leave feet to make a tag.
Blocking is not allowed and will result in a loss of down.
Offensive receivers have to be lined up outside the tackle box with at least receiver on each side of the line of scrimmage.
One offensive coach is allowed on the field at any time as long as they are behind the offensive huddle. (The remaining coaches will coach from the sidelines)
On Defense:
The defense may only have 7 players in coverage. Defenses cannot blitz. The first time is a warning and replay of the down. The second time is a 5 yard penalty and automatic first down. The first down markers of the 25 and 10-yard line will remain the same.
Press man coverage is allowed.
Defense cannot be lined up in the neutral zone. This will result in a 5 yard penalty and replay of down.
The defenders must tag the receiver with at least one hand below the shoulders for the ball to be dead. (No other contact is permitted).
NO TACKLING IS ALLOWED.
The defensive players may bump / jam the offensive player within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage but not once the ball is in the air. No continuous bumping / jamming is allowed.
An interception results in immediate stoppage.
No defensive coaches can be on the field.

Field Length will be 70 yards in length and 25 yards in width. The endzone will be 10 yards in length.
No-Run Zone:
No-Run Zone will be 5 yards before the endzone.

Player Expectations
Positive mental & competitive attitude.
Maintain a safe playing environment.
No fighting. If a player fights, this individual will be immediately disqualified from the duration of the tournament.
Coach Expectations

No fighting. If a coach fights, the team will be immediately disqualified from the duration of the tournament.
Spectator Expectations
All individuals not participating in the games, are to remain outside of the fenced playing areas. At no time should any individual not participating in the games be inside the fenced playing areas.
Maintain a safe environment.
Weapons, drugs, alcohol and tobacco products are not permitted while on the Muhlenberg School District campus. All players, coaches, and spectators are expected to conduct themselves in a positive manner and refrain from unsportsmanlike actions. Fighting, verbal abuse, and/or threats will not be tolerated. Any individual in violation of the above expectations will be removed from the event and/or police will be notified.
Fees
Gate Entry (2 Entrances): $10 (CASH ONLY), 6 years old and under are Free.
Team Photographer: $15 (CASH ONLY). Each team is allotted 1 team photographer on the sideline. This individual can NOT be within the field of play. This individual must be identified as the “Team Photographer” at the registration table.
Other Information
Registration will take place at the Football Operations Tent in the stadium. Teams should register 90 - 60 Minutes before their first game.
All players, coaches, and team staff are required to wear a wristband during the tournament day. Wristbands will be issued at the registration tent.
Each team is responsible for their schedule. Teams should arrive on time for scheduled games. We will start on time for each game unless there was an identified delay by the tournament director.
Prior to each game, be sure to check in with the tournament staff at your field.
All teams will provide their own team uniforms. Please have an alternative color uniform available in the event that there is a conflict.
Players may not wear jewelry during the games.
Team coolers are allowed for snakes, sports drinks, and water. Cleaning up after yourself is a requirement.
Every team is responsible for their belongings.
