Future success!

This competitive offseason game can help get teams ready to play under Friday night lights. Finger-tip & one-hand catches. Diving-interceptions. A quarterback threading the needle. The action on the football field is what draws players to the sport in the fall season. But the game now extends to the offseason as teams participate in 7-on-7 football.

It’s similar to what you would see during a regular-season game, but the game is stripped down. Players don’t wear pads and there are no offensive or defensive lines. Offensive players are considered down when they are touched below the neck by a defender. (Two hand touch 8u-12u , One hand touch 13u-14u)

Seven-on-7 is something you can set up at practice during the season to work on your team’s passing game.But it is also a fun and competitive event that we use in the offseason in order to go ahead and continue working on our passing game without equipment.

Teams can use the 7-on-7 for more than just offseason competition. By adding 7-on-7 drills to your practice during the season, you can be ready to pass the ball with confidence in game-changing situations.

CTYPL Rules:

ELIGIBILITY

  •  Any registered youth team. Our league is based off single age groups(8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U/Rising 8th grade and 14U/Rising Freshman.

  • 8DIVISIONS
    This league is open to all athletes ages 8U-14u with a birthday control date of March 31st
  • TEAMS   

  • Teams consist of 14-24 players together with 1-4 adult coaches.

TIME   

  • All games will be 20 minutes halves with a running clock.. There will be a 25-second play clock in effect. In case of injury the clock will stop at the discretion of the Referee, if that occurs the player must leave for at least one play.

FIELD   

  • The playing field will be 40 yards in length, plus a 10 yard end zone.

POSSESSION OF THE BALL   

  • All possessions start at the 40-yard line. No matter where the defense stops the offense, they take over at the 40-yard line.

PLAY   

  • Each team will have 7 players on the field at all times. There will be a center, which will be one of the three offensive players on the line of scrimmage and formations and rules mirror tackle rules. Imagine the game without 4 lineman.

Play begins when

  • The ball is snapped to the quarterback. either in shotgun or under the center. A play in progress at the final whistle is completed. The game cannot end on a defensive penalty, unless the offense declines it.

Play ends when   

  • Two hand touch below the neck division 8u-12u, One hand touch below the neck division 13u-14u

Substitution

  • Regular substitution rules apply.

No running plays allowed   

  • Everyone except the center is eligible to receive passes.

Passing   

  • The Quarterback has 5 seconds to release the ball or it is blown dead, returning to the line of scrimmage for the next down. There is no rushing the Quarterback or crossing the line of scrimmage, until after a pass is thrown.

Double Pass   

  • Double passing is not allowed.

Downs   

  • 4 downs before reaching the 25 yard line ,3 downs before reaching 10yard line and 3 downs in the red zone 

SCORIN   

  • Touchdown scores 6 points

  • 1 extra point by passing from the 5 yard line

  • 2 extra points by passing from the 10 yard line

  • Interception scores 3 points, plus possession at the 40-yard line

PENALTIES   

  • This is a minimal contact game and any flagrant contact is cause for immediate ejection. As always, any unsportsmanlike conduct is also cause for ejection. The Referee's decision is final on all plays, there will be no tolerance for arguing, and only a coach may ask for a rule clarification. Coaches control profanity. Coaches are expected to eliminate profanity on their team.

Offense   

  • NO BLOCKING

  • Illegal Motion 5 yards

  • Offensive Pass Interference 10 yards from line of scrimmage and loss of down

  • Delay of Game clock stops, 10 yards from line of scrimmage and loss of down

Defense   

  • No tackling or holding. One jam and run with the receiver is allowed

  • Offsides 5 yards from line of scrimmage, loss of down

  • Delay of Game Clock stops, 10 yards from line of scrimmage

INJURY RULES

  • If and when an official observes that a player is bleeding, has an open wound, or has an excessive amount of blood on his or her uniform, the player will be directed to leave the game. The injured player is not to return until the bleeding has stopped, the open wound is covered, and an excessively bloody uniform is changed.

OVERTIME   

  • Overtime only allowed in tournament play. Each team takes possession from the 10 yard line.

Equipment    

  • Soft shell helmet-must be on the players head. Must have a Mouthpiece. without equipment the player can not participate until full equipt. Cleats
