DR MOTIVATE 7 ON 7 returns for Winter–Spring 2026 with elite competition, unmatched energy, and a culture rooted in respect, grit, and growth. Whether you’re a first‑time player or a returning champion, this is your moment to shine.

📅 Season Overview

 

• Tryouts: Second week of January

• League Play Schedule Release: Sunday, January 25th

• First Weekend of Interleague Iowa Colony Play: Sunday, February 1st

• Interleague Championship: Sunday, March 1st — single elimination format

• Additional League Competition: Begins Sunday, March 29th at the South Post Oak Sports Complex

• Additional League Championship: Sunday, May 3rd — single elimination tournament

• Season Length: January through early May

• Two leagues, one incredible season:1. Intraleague Iowa Colony League — players begin with local league play through Dr. Motivate 7 ON 7

2. Additional Local League Championship — after the intraleague, Iowa Colony teams will enter another league to compete for a second title

 

• Game Days: All teams will play on Sundays

📝 Registration Process

 

• Zorts Registration Required

All youth participants must complete Zorts registration to be eligible for play.

• Team Placement Form

• Additional Waiver Forms

Parents will be required to complete additional waiver forms for participation in the second league competition beginning March 29th.

🔒 Safety & Volunteer Policy

 

• A Zorts background check is required for all field coaches and volunteers who will have regular, close contact with children.

• To ensure consistency and safety, all volunteers must register under the “Coach” role in Zorts.

💡 Fundraiser Requirement

 

During the Winter–Spring 7 ON 7 season, all families will be required to participate in one fundraiser.

 

• Minimum Requirement: $100 through raffle tickets or SquareSpace fundraiser

• Purpose: Funds raised will directly support Dr. Motivate 7 ON 7 program operations, helping us provide quality gear, coverage, and opportunities for every player.

Game Rules

• Team & Roster: 7‑on‑7 format, maximum 14 players per roster.
• Game Duration: 20‑minute games with a running clock.• Clock stops only for injury or referee timeout.

• Field Setup: First downs at the 25‑yard and 10‑yard marks.
• Scoring System:• Touchdown = 6 points
• Interception = 3 points
• Interception returned for TD = 6 points (treated as a standard TD)
• Mandatory extra points: 1 point from the 5‑yard line or 2 points from the 10‑yard line
• Turnovers on PATs = dead ball

• Possession Rules:• Ball is dead when it hits the ground past LOS, ball‑carrier steps out, or is tagged legally below the neck with one/two hands.
• No blocking, kicking, or fumbles past LOS.
• Fumbled snaps are live; 4‑second throw clock enforced.

Player Equipment

• Helmets: Soft shell helmets mandatory (except QBs). Must be strapped and worn with mouthpieces.
• Mouthguards: Mandatory at all times.
• QB Exception: If QB is unhelmeted or unstrapped, they cannot pursue defenders after an interception.

Officials & Game Management

• Each game has up to 2 volunteer coach referees. 
• Volunteer Coach Referees enforce 4‑second throw clock, 25‑second play clock, and scoring. Scoring is written on the game score card and given to the scorekeeper for game entry
• Final rulings rest with Dr. Motivate LLC officials, whose decisions are final and binding.

Coaches

• Maximum of 3 coaches on the sideline.
• One offensive coach may enter the huddle but must remain 5 yards behind QB before snap.
• Defensive coaches are not allowed on the field.
• Coaches are responsible for teaching rules and modeling conduct.
• Dr. Donald Brown (CEO of Dr. Motivate LLC) and program officials reserve full authority to remove or suspend any coach at their sole discretion if such action is deemed necessary for the safety, well‑being, or positive environment of the program. All decisions are final and binding.

Game Play Mechanics

• Field length: 50 yards, 40+ yards wide, 10‑yard end zones.
• Teams must start on time; late arrivals may result in point penalties or forfeits.
• Offense may run the ball except inside the 10‑yard line.
• QB may scramble but cannot cross LOS.
• Trick plays (reverses, hook‑and‑ladders) are prohibited.
• One blitz allowed per game.
• No blocking or punting.
• Fighting, excessive force, or unsportsmanlike conduct = immediate ejection.

Penalties

• Offense: Off‑sides, delay of game, illegal formation, pass interference, excessive celebration = loss of down or yardage penalties.
• Defense: Off‑sides, holding, pass interference, excessive contact, taunting = yardage penalties or automatic first down.
• Unsportsmanlike Conduct: May result in ejection, suspension, or ban.

Overtime (Tournament Play Only)

• Coin flip decides offense/defense.
• Each team gets one play from the 10‑yard line.
• If tied, one play from the 40‑yard line; most yards wins.
• No blitzing in overtime.
