Lineman 1v1 Trench Battles – Official Event Rules (Referee Version)
1️⃣ Rep Timing
Each rep is a standard 4-count from the whistle
Count is controlled by the official
Rep ends at:
Clear win before 4 count OR
Completion of the 4 count
2️⃣ Win Conditions
A rep is an automatic win if one of the following occurs before the 4 count:
DL clearly defeats the block and crosses the rush line
OL clearly controls and stops all forward progress
Opponent loses balance or falls
False start or major rule violation
3️⃣ Tie / Close Rep Procedure
If no clear winner is determined after the 4 count, the rep goes to an:
Event Coach / Referee Decision
Officials will use the Trench Battle Rating Checklist below to determine the winner.

Leverage & Pad Level
☐ Lower pad level throughout the rep
☐ Controlled leverage at point of contact
Hand Placement & Usage
☐ Hands inside the frame
☐ Quick, effective punch
☐ Hand control maintained
Footwork & Balance
☐ Active feet throughout the rep
☐ Maintained balance and base
☐ Did not cross feet or overextend
Power & Control
☐ Generated power at contact
☐ Controlled opponent’s movement
☐ Maintained control through the finish
Technique & Finish
☐ Executed proper technique (OL or DL)
☐ Stayed square and disciplined
☐ Finished the rep strong at the whistle
Discipline
☐ No holding or illegal techniques
☐ No helmet-to-helmet contact
☐ Demonstrated composure and sportsmanship
4️⃣ Final Decision Rule
Athlete with more checked boxes wins the rep
If still tied:
Head official makes final judgment call
Decision is final and non-appealable

Finish
Size alone does not determine a winner.
